Transforming Your Mind

Today's Just a Thought comes from Romans 12:2 "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will."
What does a transformed mind look like? What would I be thinking about if my mind was completely transformed?I would have to say our mind and thoughts would be: PeacefulFull of compassionEmpatheticCourageousStrongConfidentPlowingCaringFearlessDiscerningWiseFocusedDisciplinedPureClearJoyfulAll of these feelings would occur without fear, anxiety, insecurity, doubt, uncertainty, selfishness, lust or greed. So why does the effort to transform our minds seem so burdensome?
God says to seek his face at all times. Like Peter walking on water, Jesus asks us to look into his eyes and stay focused on him. Each step of the way, he will carry us.He will provide for all the needs we have that support our stress and anxiety and fuel our negative thoughts.
Why is this so burdensome? It's the word BUT.
When we look deep into Jesus's eyes, we are screaming "Help me!" He responds by saying, "I'm here and I've got you. Just let go..." Instead of accepting that promise, we counter with "But ..." We continuously challenge God and his word. Each time we use the word "but," we start to sink.
Can you go one day without using the word "but" in your conversation with God? It's a good first step to transforming your mind. I bet in answering this question you already used the word. I encourage you to keep going; this will be a interesting and fruitful journey.Just a thought.
