Busy Vs Hurry

Busy is an external condition: It means there are many tasks to do. In this world, we all could agree there are so many things to do just to keep up.

Hurry, on the other hand, is an internal condition of the soul. It’s how we look at or approach business.

If we take time to restore our soul and lay before God the tasks of the day, we can literally accomplish the things before us in a peaceful manner. Trust God with the matters before us, and their outcomes.

On the other hand, if we edge God out — EGO — we will find it not only difficult to complete the tasks set before us, we will also feel a drain on our inner soul. The sense of hurry will be overwhelming.

It's the tale of the turtle and the hare. The turtle took his time knowing deep inside things would get done and he would arrive at his destination. He had time to interact with others along the way and to enjoy the scenery.

The hare, on the other hand, created for himself a sense of internal hurry and then was left with relying on his own abilities to get to the end. He raced yet missed everything along the journey, made errors along the way and came to the finish line exhausted and depleted — only to find the turtle there waiting for him, relaxing with his feet up and telling great stories about the people he met and things he saw along the way.

The turtle was rested and ready for the next day, waiting with anticipation. The hare went home tired, angry and lonely, hating the thought of another day.

If we nurture our souls, we will not be in a hurry and will be well-prepared to be busy.

Take time today before God and restore your soul.

The day will come. How we prepare ourselves for it determines our ability to navigate through it.

Psalm 46:10: “Be still and know that I am God.”

Just a thought …
