A Decision of Lifetime

Today’s Just a Thought comes from Exodus 19:3-6: Then Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain and said, “This is what you are to say to the descendants of Jacob and what you are to tell the people of Israel: (4) ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. (5) Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, (6) you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.”

As leaders, there are times when you want to share a great opportunity with your staff or an individual. You stand in front of this person and explain that if he or she takes the next X amount of time and listen and obey your teaching and execute as you have instructed that great things will be in store.You even tell them in detail what those great things will be. You are clear in your communication, passionate about their future and your speech was the best motivational speech you have ever given.

Then you are left with the closing statement as a reminder:

And all I have said to you will happen, but it's your choice to take it or not.

In the end it is their choice, their free will. You can do nothing more but to respect their decision and move on.
