A Savior Has Been Born To You

Today’s Just a Thought comes from Luke 2:10-11: But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. (11) Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.
This was good news to the Israelites as they had been waiting for a savior for 700 years. All those years, people had died with only a wish in their heart that a messiah would come and rescue them from their sins.
But for us the savior has come and yet we were never looking nor waiting for him, as with the early Gentiles. They were not waiting for a savior.
Yet there’s an inherent need deep within all of us then and now that knows we need something, someone to satisfy our souls. If that’s not true then why would anyone in their right mind even entertain the idea of a savior for our sins?
We only have to watch the news, read the paper or live on this earth for a short time and see the depravity of the world — and say we need help.
We try to read it away, watch it away, drink it away, rationalize it away, think it away, ignore it, excuse it, laugh at it, but everywhere we look it's still there.
I, for one, want and need a savior.
A savior who will protect me, guide me, care for me. One I can talk to, who knows me, who is trustworthy, faithful, who can deliver on his promises, who has a better plan that I do.
I need a savior, do you?
Just a thought ...
